John V. Tran, DPM, MPH
Before Dr. Tran went to college at Texas A &M University for engineering, he decided to take some time off and join the military to serve the country that gave his family a second opportunity in life after emigrating from South Vietnam. During his deployment to Desert Storm/Desert Shield, he quickly realize that saving life and easing suffering was what he wanted to do. After 8 years of honorable military services, he decided to pursue his college education.
Dr. Tran attended Texas A&M University but later transferred and accepted a full soccer scholarship at Houston Baptist University (HBU). Having graduated from HBU, as a Biology and Chemistry majors, Dr. Tran went on to New York College of Podiatric Medicine to receive his degree as a Podiatric Physician. He believed that with his experience as an athlete and being very familiar with many sport injuries that being a Foot and Ankle Specialist would be an ideal profession. After graduating from New York College of Podiatric Medicine, he then went on to residency training at St. Barnabas Hospital and Wyckoff Height Medical Center. While during his residency training, September 11, 2001 event happen and Dr. Tran accepted a direct commission in USAF to serve the country in time of distress. He was station at MacDill AFB, Tampa Florida for 3 years and providing services to include but not limited to Aerospace Medicine, Public Health and Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, and Community Health.
